DescriptionAt Nexus, we are committed to following the way and path of Jesus. We affirm the reality of God (a magnificent, wondrous, imminent and transcendent “More”) and believe Jesus to be the decisive disclosure of God and what a life full of God looks like. As such, we understand Jesus teachings, life, death and resurrection to be the path of life (how we are meant to live and the best possible way to live). Jesus way is the path of justice and mercy, love and grace, death and resurrection and the never ending quest to become more fully and authentically human. We are committed to exploring this faith path in fresh and exciting ways and all are welcome to travel with us.
By following the Christian path we give special attention and prominence to the Gospels and grand narrative of Scripture, even as we recognize that there is much to be learned from all paths, traditions and voices of wisdom. We are in constant dialogue with Scripture as our story and identity document. It shapes our vision of life, God, ourselves and of God’s dream for the earth. We seek to bring a fresh perspective to the Christian path by bringing other culturally authoritative and interesting voices into conversation with Scripture.
We seek to humbly take our place on the ancient Christian path recognizing that it has been travelled by many for over 2000 years and continues to be travelled by millions today. As such, we seek to learn from those who have travelled it before us and those who continue to travel it today, even as we recognize the path requires fresh understandings in every time and place and that God’s truth and wisdom can be found in many places, peoples and paths.
Nexus was born out a desire to present a fresh expression of the Christian path to those who have become disillusioned, disenfranchised or disinterested in contemporary or mainline expressions of church. For many, experiences in church have been damaging and harmful, and so our passion is to present an alternative expression of church, where faith can be seen as intelligent as science and where faith is as integral as our intellects. For the many people who find themselves bored, restless, frustrated, uncomfortable, or unwelcome in church, Nexus is passionate about exploring the Christian path in a way that is meaningful for you.
