An Evening with Jodi Spargur Exploring
Mend: An Invitation from Jesus to Return to Land-based Repair

November 9, 2026, 7:00 - 8:30 pm

Parkminster United Church
275 Erb St. E, Waterloo

The land remembers. For centuries, the Church in North America has benefited from the dispossession of Indigenous lands, cultures, and sovereignty. Many of us know parts of this history, the broken treaties and the severed relationships, but we are often left wondering what faithful action looks like now.

"Mend: An Invitation from Jesus to Return to Land-based Repair" reminds us that repair is not charity. It is discipleship. Mend invites the Church into courageous truth-telling and land-based reparations, not as a trend or an optional justice project, but as a necessary act of faithfulness as we follow the Jesus Way.

Join us for an evening of honest truth-telling, biblical reimagining, and hopeful conversation as author and speaker Jodi Spargur introduces her book, Mend. Together, we will explore how Scripture, history, and Indigenous witness call us away from polite lament and toward tangible, land-based restoration. We hope that you will have some concrete next steps for you and your church on your journey to restore right relationships with our neighbours and the land itself.

What to Expect:

  • Teaching & Reflection: Discover why repair is central, not peripheral, to Christian faith.

  • Q&A Session: Bring your questions, doubts, and hopes.
