About Waiting & Watching Together
In the season of Advent, we wait for Jesus together
The season of Advent before Christmas offers us a chance to anticipate the arrival of Jesus again each year. Sometimes waiting is filled with longing, or sorrow, or questions. When waiting and watching for Jesus is complex, then waiting in community is all the more important. Join the New Leaf community during Advent and lean into the joy that comes when we wait together.
About the New Leaf Advent Reader
The tradition of the New Leaf Advent Reader began in 2018. As a young network across Canada, we started reaching out to writers, pastors and other leaders we knew and asked for a short reflection for our collection. The collection that resulted that first year was beautiful and vulnerable. We appreciated those who share their thoughts and their writing, sometimes even only by the recommendation of a friend that New Leaf was a friendly place.
In 2018 we had about 300 people sign up to receive daily emails. There were typos and copying errors, but in the midst of it all people appreciated the community these short reflections created.
In the years since, the community of writers and readers has grown. Word spread and we have about 1600 readers on our list.
After 176 refelctions over eight years, we thought it was time to revisit some of the reflections again, this time in a print edition.
